Basswood BodyBasswood is a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in between alder and mahogany in sound character. Perfect inexpensive quality 5 string fretless bass.
Exactly what it says on the tin. Great quality and it sounds beautiful. No floppy, undefined B string. The Ibanez made preamp and pickups are a great match, but upgrading to a Bartolini pickup (via their website, not Ibanez) makes the bass better. I got mine as a "B" grade for $159.
