I got this synth because I thought I wanted a flexible digital with an intuitive programming interface. Decided within an hour of having it out of the box that it wasn't really wooing me, and as I have come to think that it is often pointless to keep gear you don't love or aren't inspired by quickly, I put it back on the 'bay. The basic oscillator sounds have that digital stiffness I was never moved by on the microkorg. The filters are unexciting. However, I have to say that shortly before I boxed it back up, I figured out a few things about the interface. It seems like if you put in the time programming this, you can do an amazing number of things. The FX section (2 inserts per Timbre and master FX) alone is pretty impressive. However, despite all the knobs, there are a ton of hidden or unintuitive features in this synth. I was looking for something that would inspire me to write music. This was not it. It is, I think, an instrument that could provide you with an amazing array of sounds if you are willing to put in the time on it.Read full review
Based on my own personal experience of 11 years working with many synths both virtual and analog modeling, this is the most underrated and overlooked synth on the market. Very powerful and very diverse in what you can do with it. The presets out of the box are outdated, however everything can be modified and rewritten with the exception of not being able to sample your own sounds. The Korg website still offers support, so you can download the manuals and the latest software to integrate with a PC. You can even download preset sounds for free that emulate the Microkorg and the old school MS 2000. It's like having 3 synths in one with a Vocoder and Sequencer. Unit's selling for 2 or 3 thousand dollars don't even have a sequencer built in. Is it a pain to program, yes if you don't know your way around a synth or read the manual, it can be. The PC integration does make it more user friendly however, reducing the need to use submenus. Complex motion sequences can be created within a preset and work simultaneously with the step sequences, using up to four timbres at a time including drum patterns. Each timbre can be fully customized with the many knobs right in front of you. If you are looking for presets that are good out of the box for todays music, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a bang for the buck, very powerful analog modeling synth to spend countless hours tweeking and refining your own presets and sounds, this may be it.Read full review
The Korg Radias is a bit intimidating for beginners and those who simply want to make music without doing any programming but its relatively easy to learn if you can be patient and just sit down and work with it for a while you will have one of the most powerful virtual analog synths that money can buy.
It is the most amazing synth module I own. It is a very flexible module that allows you to tweak it to make your own sounds. There are also various user groups where people made their own sounds that you can import into the device. With midi capabilities, the possibilities are endless. I highly recommend this module.
Thanks I love it
