Simple Engine that is easy to maintain.
I bought this second hand as a non runner, a machine that had run last time it was used, and this season did not start.
Pretty easy to fix, drained the carburettor float bowl of water, replaced the air filter which had disintegrated into a solid mass of... I dunno.. mush.
Servicing is as easy as it gets... also its a four stroke so no need for premixing oil and petrol.
Started up no problem.
Setting the mixture and idle on the carburettor is a bit "hit and hope". It seems to need different settings to run 100% perfectly depending on ambient temperature / humidity... but given that it’s a simple side valve engine that’s not that surprising... and a quick twist of a screwdriver is all it ever needs.
I’ve just found a mid point and left it at that as it will run ok in any case, maybe a bit lumpey some times... but it never conks out.
Mows perfectly.
also shatters flint stones (if you live in a flint area) into a thousand sharp fragments... ie it has PLENTY of power.
Basically you want to make sure there are no stones / sticks / kids toys on eth lawn... or it will obliterate them.
All in all... a great little mower.
Will cost lots more to run than an electric so economically is a daft prospect unless you don’t want a cable to run over or get wrapped around swings, trees etc...
Personally I like it lots.
