Your axe will squeal over this deal

Out of the box this pedal looks nice, is lightweight, and uses a metal housing. Sounds pretty standard right? except this pedal costs less than $20! When you add in the fact that this metallic black device can satisfy most Metalheads need for sonic destruction and it becomes a sweet deal. Mechanically everything works as it should and nothing about this unit feels cheap to me. It is completely capable of creating sweet lead tones all the way to thumping palm muted lines. This is now my go to distortion pedal for the podcast i'm on. The FAB Metal distortion unit has 3 knobs, level, tone and gain. That's all that is needed in a good pedal and this is a GOOD pedal. It isn't perfect though. Earlier I mentioned how it can satisfy MOST metal heads needs? While it can dip into hard rock territory it isn't meant to sound like an overdrive pedal. On the other end of the spectrum plam muting can get quite deep and chunky for an old school thrash metalhead like me but guys into newer metal on the heavier end using 7+8 string guitars might find this a bit thin, but just a bit. this is only based on running a SSS strat through it as my HH Washburn is in the shop so it could be just fine for the heaviest styles. I should also mention that the paint, although quite cool out of the box will make this pedal hard to see when playing out. Good looks, good tones, and good construction along with crushing tones make this a no brainer, When it's less than $20 (I paid $14.99) ... well what are you waiting for?

    Fab "weak" metal pedal

I use this pedal as more of an over drive pedal .. if You are looking for a " Metal" pedal, the " FAB" is no player in this category. I have it paired with a Digitech " Hot Head" pedal. The main volume level could use some tweaking as could the gain. But what do you expect for a pedal that only costs $15. If you a beginner and don't want spend a tonne of cash make then pair this pedal with a harsh distortion and a noise-gate.... all one this pedal is not that noisy, but when paired it can give off some humming noise..... Overall i would give this pedal a 6 out of 10 !

  • Great Pedal, Sounds Awesome!

I have used Danelectro in the past for delay, but never for distortion. I picked this pedal up for a recording project and am very pleased with the sound. Reminescant of Motley Crue's guitar sound imo. Great buy too!

  • Too buzzy

I really wanted to like this pedal. I had considered buying other models if this one went well. Unfortunately as soon as you turn it on it buzzes. No matter what level you have it at. If you can hear your guitar then you can hear a buzz. I'm disappointed

  • Great pedal for the money

Works great. battery runs low quick. Use a power supply. The tone control isn't so good. This sounds best with the highs rolled off. keep the tone a little muddy and it's a useful sound for certain songs.

  • Great Deal!

I did not like the OD channels on my Blackstar , and this on clean was the sound I wanted. This unit puts the balls in it, for sure, with quiet bypass. From a mellow smooth fuzziness to outright filth, with just a touch of volume boost. It is much better sounding than the French Toast buzzer. This was better than the other metal distortion I have, which is noisy on and on bypass. So this FAB Metal is the ticket.

  • Underrated metal preamp

Thick and raspy, the Danelectro Fab Metal is a great modern-sounding effect that is a wonderful value. Although made of plastic, it’s very sturdy, and the bypass switch is rugged and feels good. For those thrashers on a budget, this one’s for you.
