Torn Diaphragm
It is clear these regulators are not tested before being sold. After setting up all the lines needed and powering up the fuel pump, fuel began to leak out of both the pressure gauge and vacuum port. I decided to take it apart to investigate further. Turns out the diaphragm had a few holes allowing the fuel to leak into the vacuum port. Also, the surfaces for securing the diaphragm (held in place by pressure) were glossy smooth, which means over time the diaphragm would slip out on the joints. I roughed them up with sand paper but then notices the holes. I feel I could have done a better machining job on the inside of the regulator by hand as well. The fittings seem to have been working so I will be keeping them for the time being. As for the regulator itself? I'm just going to through it away and fork out the money for a better one.
