Nein, da war vorher auch noch sein neuntes Studioalbum "Years Of Refusal", das nicht nur von der Kritik gefeiert, sondern auch sein viertes wurde, mit dem er in die Top 3 der britischen Charts einsteigen konnte.

Reviews"The mordant humor and camp sensibility never wavers, nor does the inimitable voice.", 3 stars out of 5 -- "Morrissey's compilation demonstrates yet again the man's peculiarly quixotic muse.", 4 stars out of 5 -- "With his trademark mix of comedy, tragedy and self-pity still a match for anyone, SWORDS is a collection of buried B-sides dating back to 2004.", "The songs show the artist's continued creative stretch, from the staggered orchestral layers of 'The Never-Played Symphonies' to the ambient 'Sweetie-Pie'...", 3 stars out of 5 -- "This, a collection of often preposterously-named B-sides from his past four albums, gets the thumps-up."
Additional InformationSwords gathers up 18 highlights from the B-sides of singles from You Are the Quarry, Ringleader of the Tormentors, and Years of Refusal.
I thought it would be the weaker songs but it's good!
I have most of Morrissey's stuff and because this seems to be a dragging together of 'b' sides etc, I expected this to be a cashing in exercise, maybe a few decent tracks, but generally not the best. Actually, I think most of it is pretty good! May be because I feel like his stuff has not been as good lately, even the stuff that was not centre stage at the time, sounds better than a lot of the recent songs. This album really repays repeated listening. I have had it on almost non stop in my car for 3 weeks, and some of the songs really grow on you. There are a few tracks that in my view are not very strong (you may like them so I won't list them) but for me, about 80% of it is very good. Most of the songs I find myself singing along to, and then singing to myself when I get out of the car. If you like Morrisey, you will like this and its great value. If you are not already a fan, buy it, listen to it 5 or 6 times and unless you have a completely closed mind, I find it hard to imagine that you will not get into at least some of it. May be not the absolute best of Morrissey, but compared to most people's stuff, still great.
