Very nice scope, easy to use and the Monarch 3 has a better picture than the original, I have several scopes and this one is an excellent buy! Easy to sight in and adjustments are simple. I have this same scope on 3 different guns, a 22, 223 and a 7.62 X 39. It's easy to adjust for the different ranges using the BDC. Lifetime warranty... no questions...
Honestly, I haven't actually had the gun that this is mounted on out much beyond sighting it in. I can say that I shopped for a few months before finally deciding this is the scope for me. I didn't want a huge objective in the way of everything, any like many of my friends have told me, Nikons seem to let a lot of light in. So far, through my limited use, I can say that the 42mm was the way to go. The optical clarity is amazing. It's on the borderline of being better than I can see with my naked eye. I looked through a lot of scopes, good, name brand ones, in the $200-$500 range and I didn't like any better than this. I really liked the Mil-Dot reticle so that I can learn the process and use those dots to my advantage to compensate for drop, etc. I also like that the windage and elevation knobs are finger-adjustable. I actually preferred the tactical style that don't even have caps on them, but I don't suppose I'll be using that adjustment much after it's dead on. That's what the reticle is for! All in all, I think this is a GREAT scope for the money. Nikon has legendary history with photographic lens equipment and I am very pleased with the quality of their scopes! You won't regret this purchase! Save up and get a good one like this, don't settle for a $99 special, unless you're putting it on a rimfire. This might be overkill for that.Read full review
I bought this scope for my Savage .270,which is a long range rifle.I like this product because of it's clarity and the BDC reticle(bullet drop compensation)which allows you to make longer range shot's(up to 500 yards).I have no dislikes about this scope and would recomend it to anyone. It is avery high qaulity scope. I'm sure they are better scopes on the market but you will have to pay out the nose for them.
I have used this 2.5-10x42 Nikon Monarch on my current Elk rifle and the predecessor 3-9x40 Monarch on Elk and deer rifles. I think these scopes are the best I've ever owned / uesed. They are clear and crisp scopes with very good light collection. Once you have them zeroed they stay put! 300+ yds shots on Elk with an accurate rifle on several occasions meant Elk down in their track. The life-time warranty is a big plus, too. This is the rifle scope I put on any rifle with the capability to hit 1" MOA or less groups. You won't be disappointed imo.
good scope for price mil dot is complicated to use ,windage adjustment does not track accurately
