I installed this ESU board and a TCS 1698 sugar cube speaker (13.6mm X 9.6mm) in a new Atlas N C-628 engine. While the replacement board is easy to install, I had to ream out the lower fuel tank metal frame casting to house the speaker. The speaker is totally sealed in the fuel tank with the bottom cut open to the track. The board's sound is marginal at best, and the amperage draw is close to 1 amp at 15 v. I also bought the Atlas C-420 Gold Series Engine with the ESU factory sound installed board, and there is a day-night positive difference in the sound output. Also, the C-420's draw less than 0.5 amps. If I had to do it over again, I would not have bought this ESU 73100 board and would have just waited for more Atlas Gold Series factory installed sound board engines to be released. Nice try by ESU to address pre-2016 Atlas engines, but my installation misses the mark. :-((((((( Dec 18, 2020: As a follow-up, I removed the TCS sugar cube speaker from the fuel tank carve-out, Dremel cut/filed the rest of the tank bottom off, and installed a self contained speaker/cube by: RailMasters Speaker DS 1240 BOX 12x40x4mm---significantly improved the sound out-put---but still not a good as the Atlas Gold Engine pre-installed ESU sound system. Great decoder but is not a direct drop in to all but a few locomotives Soldering/hard wiring can be done to make it fit. Be sure you have the skill level to attempt this.
