The Story so Far
In my opinion this is a great little machine for the price. The sanding wheel guard is plastic and the quality and fitting isn't that good. The mitre is also plastic and the same comment applies. The base could do with some holes punched into it so that it can be bolted to a bench, I have had to drill some in mine which I presume will invalidate the warranty, but I like any machine to have the option of being fitted in this way even if it is only whilst in use.
I have replaced the bolts that secure the mitre table to the machine. The table can be used in two positions and is locked into place with bolts that need to be tightened with a spanner. These now have Bristol bolt handles fitted so no tools are required when you want to re-position the table. The sliding bars that are used to hold the table in place are round and really needed a flat edge filing on them to allow the bolt a more secure surface in which to lock onto.
The belt table is held in position be two bolts that require the use of a spanner, ( spanned and allen key are provided). I am looking to find a way of fixing so that no tools are required to move the angle of the belt.
The dust extraction outlets are quite difficult to get a vacuum attached but I am still working on this, at the moment I am using a free standing extraction unit.
These are all small issues that could have been dealt with when the machine was designed, as the cost implication to the manufacturer would be too much different if any.
I am still pleased with the machine as I know you get what you pay for and this was a great price at the end of the day. The alterations I have made have more than likely invalidated the warranty but in my view is worth it.
Every workshop needs a sanding machine of some description and this is certainly worth looking at for a first time buy.
I would/have recommended this machine as it is what I expected.
