Stunning picture quality!
I'm having a great time with this blu-ray, high def DVD player. It makes all of my DVDs look rich and clear, more than any up-conversion player I've ever had. As for blu-ray, that's a new experience for me since this is my first blu-ray player. When the blu-ray disc is all it should be, it takes my breath away. Both the picture and the audio are so thrilling. As for the internet connection, this player isn't designed to work with my WiFi. It has to be wired to the LAN connection. I'm really happy it features an optical output for surround sound. That's a feature I need for my 5.1 surround sound system. Too many other players don't offer this audio option and it was a feature I had to have. This is a beautiful player in every way and I highly recommend it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Huge, cheap looking, poor picture.
I purchased this to replace a Sony smart Blu Ray player I bought in 2013. I have a 4k smart TV, so I didn't need smart features on my replacement. I actually prefer the Sony which cost half of what I paid for this. First, this player is huge; over twice as big as my old Sony. It's the size of an old VCR. It's just a big plastic box that looks ugly; no style to denote it's high tech features. Aside from that, set up is easy, but you get no detailed manual, just a flyer for quick set up. I had to download the manual online. My real gripe is with the picture quality. Shadows are dark, and hide detail. Color reproduction is stark, and artificial, with no warm natural colors. Settings menu failed to correct this. The disc drawer doesn't open fully, and I have to pull on it to fully extend it. Remote appears bargain basement, and buttons you have to push hard to get a reaction. Overall, this is a poor product that reminds me of entry level DVD players when they became more affordable. For what this sells for, I expected much better, and was completely disappointed. I would definitely not recommend this, and give it a below average review.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Appears that I made a good choice!
As of now a 4 to 4.5 star rating - if it lasts longer than my previous unit (different brand) I probably would give it a 5 star rating. Easy to hook up and I like the remote control. Have only tried a few discs so far but have been pleased with the player's performance. It is attached to a UHD tv, so bought my first Blu-Ray disc and am pleased with the results. It has also been able to boost the quality of my standard dvd films, so as of now I think I made a good choice in purchasing this unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

KISS perfection
"keep it simple, stupid" brilliantly sums up this player. no wifi to mess with, no "smart" features. it just plays discs and does so with excellent quality and a minimum of fuss. just 4 connections: AC power, ethernet (so that you can access firmware updates over the internet and access BD-Live features), optical digital out (optional), and HDMI (be sure to use a high-speed 2.0 or newer-spec'd cable). coming from a finicky samsung player that was slow to load discs and had a user interface and a remote control that only a nuclear engineer could love, this is a godsend. there is a USB connector on the front panel for external media connections but i haven't tried it so far because all of the media i care about is disc based: blu-ray, dvd, and cd, and this box plays them all with ease.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great player...but.
Delivers an excellent video picture and vibrant sound. Remote is small and only takes one AAA battery. Range is weak and will only function if pointed directly at the player. Seems it would be easy to lose or misplace. Satisfied, overall.

Terrific basic player...

Great bare bones 4K player
This is the second one of these I have bought. Awesome 4K player and of course it plays all the DVD versions too. Nice player for CD's to if you have a good sound system. Would recommend this if you want a bare bones player without all the web stuff. It does have an ethernet port if you want to use it. Not sure what you could do with it, but it is perfect just using it as a stand alone player. One drawback, but not an issue for me, the remote has to be aimed at the player.
