Probably the best bang for your buck

Disclaimer, I am not consider my self "audiophile" or pro consumer although I am an video editor and use to spend a lot of time with headphone on my head, so the comfort was my top priority when considering buying headphones. I try to compare them to another model that I have, my first "serious" pair of headphones the TAKSTAR Pro 80 along with my DAC\amp SMSL SD739II, I brought these two models after I read a lot of good reviews about this headphones. the Supelux HD668b came in cardboard box that wasn't in good shape, I actually thought that the headphones inside has smashed or damaged but thankfully it wasn't the case (: the cans fees very lightweight and "cheap" not nearly close to the Pro80 that feels very much like a pairs Beyerdynamics headphones. the HD668b design reminds me the AKG retro looking style with AUDIO-TECHNICA wings head band style that is quit comfortable but you can hate it some times, the mainly reason that I give that headphones 4 stars is the fact they have the worst ear cups that made from shitty pleather matterial, those ear cups make them sound not good, they very sweaty and not deep enough to my ears so my ears touch the grill protector of the dynamics and make ears hurt after 30 minutes, that is shame. but the good news is you can change those easily and put instead the velvet ones, it is not hard to find a cross the Ebay, also every AKG 240\701 etc and HIFIMAN 400\500 will feet perfectly. after changing the pads this cans become huge deal in term of sound and ergonomics, now I can wear them all day long and the sound became more alive and the treble become less sharp and spikier. the only complain about those pads is the sound bleed is huge and the cans become to be super open, that what makes the sound better I think Unlike the Pro80 that I become in love with their sound instantaneously, when I plug the HD668b to the amp I wasn't impressed at all rather very disappointed, but after 8 hours of pink noise burn in they become much better and better so you have to burn in those headphone at least 30-40 hours of music, straight from the box those not perfect. about the sound, as I mention earlier in this post I not sound expert and I does not have the experience to judge those properly but I fell that I have to review them Because they special and the sound is may not be perfect in technical aspect but they are very pleasant to my ears and I feels that I need to share my expression and experience I have fro, these cans. this can are open, very open with good sound stage in my opinion due to that fact they lack of sub base, dont get me wrong they have very nice deep base but it not so for people who listen to DnB or Techno music, those great for Vocals, the vocals on those cans are great, very pleasant, the instrument separation is very good the sound stage allowed you to hear where the instrument located and that is great experience in my opinion, I love to hear on those Metal, Grunge, Classical Music, piano, classic and acoustic guitar will sound perfect, philharmonics and orchestra will sound perfect on those cans, the treble is little bit harsh so my be these cans will not feet to the people that treble sensitive, but I apparently don't so it is don't batters me (: apart from the harshness of the highs they are very clean especially considering the at this price range. the mids, they aren't prefect they tent to be a bit muddy and reccesed some times you, can recognize that when a lot of instrument pays at the same time, but it's not so bad I just thought that it important to mention that. the base is very clean accurate and deep, it lacks of sub base bot yuo probably wont need that for Rock, metal and classical stuff. If I need to categorized the sound of those cans I would say that the transparency of these cans tend to be very clean, the sound the very natural, they likely have vivid sounding, the treble relative to the mid range is very light the treble texture are tend to be a bit rough, the bass relative to the mid-range is slightly boomy, the bass it self is very accurate, on the box they wrote that those are monitoring headphone I think that they more likely V shaped cans, for the last words, you will need to amplify those cans because they sound no near good whiteout an amp but is still not bad for this price you can't go wrong (:

    Superlux HD668B

The only headphones I have to compare them to is Sony mdr v6 which retail for about 30 dollars more. The comfort of both are similar and are fine for short listening sessions of 30 minutes or less, however, the superlux are lighter weight and come with both a long and short detachable cord. As far as sound quality goes I would give the sony mdr v6 4 stars because of excellent bass and good treble. I would give the sound quality of the superlux HD668B 2 stars because they sound flat and muffled at all frquencies. At $45, the superlux headphones aren't a terrible deal because they are lightweight, sturdy, and come with 2 cords, but I can't recommend them due to mediocre sound quality.

  • Honest review.

Wonderful pair of headphones. Great quality. However the sound lacks some low(bass) end and got some high(treble) bleed which are in my preference are okay but wouldn't use this for any commercial use like music production. Where as for casual listening it's great for that and it also works just fine on my android device as well. As for comfortablity it quite gets pain in the ass after very long continuous use but I think it's as same as almost many other headphones anyway. Now the fun part: I got my package in two days of ordering. Excellent job there to the seller and the shipping crew.

  • Superlux HD668B

Great value, best sound for the money. Sound is excellent, every bit as good as the Bose headphones I've tried, but not quite as good as my Sennheiser HD650s or Etymotic ER-4Ps. Still, much less money! I bought these for listening on my computer while others are in the room. I used to use my Etymotics for this, and while those are still my very favorites, the isolation they provide is too good if someone needs to talk to you;) The Superlux phones let enough ambient sound in so you can still hear what's going on outside your little world of sound. My only complaint is that they can become a bit uncomfortable after extended wear, but that's a small tradeoff given the high sound quality and very reasonable price.

  • Good fit and sound

Delicate sound, balanced and not too bass-heavy. Good definition and detail for all types of music, especially complex sound like jazz and other acoustic music.

  • A wonderful headphone for a beginner audiophile on a budget!

I must say that I enjoyed the sound right out of the box using the SuperluxHD668B headphones with mobile devices. It sounded clearer than my Skull Candy hesh 2 and a wider soundstage than my JVC VHARX500. I suspect that an amp will bring out the full potential of the SuperluxHD668B. I modded mine to velour earpads and thicker foam which is very comfy. I would highly recommend the SuperluxHD668B! The sound stage gets close to my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. For the price, I can't find anything bad to say about about the SuperluxHD668B.

  • Great reference headphones and sweet midrange.

Truly awesome headphones, and using for studio use. I have AT A-30's and I think while these favor a bit of the low end around 500-1000Hz, it's much sweeter in the midrange, and honestly will be good for monitoring. Great for vocalists looking to hear their voice during recording, just being mindful with them being semi-open and really sensitive mics. Likely not a problem if you have a well insulated vocal booth.

  • Why these?

Bottom line... Best quality for the price for my use. I use them for tracking, mixing, and mastering in my home studio. Along side KRK monitors.. These phones are just as flat, as they should be!. Very minimal coloring added. That is not to say they are dull.. They are very articulate. Open, but not too much, another positive. What you put in is what you get out. I looked at a lot of options and could have easily paid much more for less in a number of top recommended sets... I chose these based on pure spec comparisons and being very familar with other hesdsets and sound quality in general. If you need very decent headphones for your home studio... These will serve you well. Spend the money saved elsewhere. These are every bit as good as the competition and cost $30-150 less.

  • Amazing sound stage and awesome for gaming

this headphone are awesome for gaming as the sound stage is very large you feel you're immersed in the game , not wearing a headphones, some things to notice is the treble is a bit high but you can easily reduce it by putting a small piece of cotton under the ear pads which also enhances the bass a little bit, bass is not heavy it's just mediocre as you can expect from an open back headphone , for comfort it's not bad and not awesome , some people replace the earpads with akg k240 velour ones but i didn't replace it yet , the replaceble cable is a big plus in my opinion , because most of the old headphones i owned usually after a long time the cable become torn from inside and even after trying to fix it it doesn't stay for long, which makes me unhappy because the drivers where still ok , so with the replaceble cable you can change it all in all and put a new one Overall, i'm very happy with this headphones it's amazing for gaming and it's not very expensive , other good options you might look at is the phillips sph9500

  • Good for the price. Don't recommend for glass wearers.

Initial: Best value for money! Works great as my PC/VR headset! Update: The top and bottom of the ear foam rests on the ears. If you wear glasses, this can become uncomfortable. So I can't recommend this for glass wearers, updating this review and dropping the rating.
