Perfect Tool for the job - Heavy & Well made

Having had a trailing arm bush fail on my Mondeo I weighed up my choices. Garage or DIY. Garage - No mess, No grief, warranty & Extortionate price and that would be without any siezed parts. DIY - Knowledge its done correcty much less cost (no labour). Problem - How to press new bush into the arm. Special tool required (CAN NOT BE DONE WITHOUT ONE) Solution - Sealey VSE4784. This tool arrived in a case. It is very heavy and bulky (but it needs to be). The build quality is exceptional. There are instructions inside the case showing how to use it correctly, how ever I would recomend checking the internet for videos as well. Prior to use check the tightness of the nuts on the stay posts and oil the main thread. This tool is designed to remove the old bush and press in the one to the correct depth. In my case I cut out the old bush and only used this tool to press in the new one. This tool can be used without fully removing the whole arm. The tool being heavy is awkward to position prior to pressing in the new bush if you are doing this solo. A second pair of hands are very useful. BE CAREFUL - Postion (Orientate) new bush BEFORE starting to press it in. Once you start to press in the new bush only use hand tools on this unit. It is not designed for a powertool. This tool was prefect for the job. It is easy and simple to use. A little awkward to position given its weight and bulk. Follow the instructions and this tool works surprisingly well. No effort involved. Do not pay more than £150 (at 2021 UK prices). For this you get a well made to that easily does the job.

    Broken on first use

I purchased this item and on first use followed the instructions to the letter. I lubed the forcing screw threads and tightened the nuts holding the spacer studs. When using a standard ½ drive ratchet and socket I tightened the tool in position and began to press the old bush. I heard a crack and the effort reduced greatly. I then saw the tool had forced the nut completely off the spacer stud and stripped the threads. The seller was awesome and replaced the stud without question. While waiting for the post to bring the new stud I used some 12mm all thread and high tensile nuts as a temporary solution, this worked perfectly and shows the tool as awesome I was just disappointed with the monkey metal used by sealey tools

  • Saves grief

Great item, saves a lot of time. Just make sure things are clean of rust before pressing in the new bush. Make sure the bush is squared up properly otherwise you have no chance of getting it in. This tool will not do the n/s bush if it has the extended plate for the exhaust hanger. The car I used this in was a 2009 Volvo v70 d5. I used the smaller bush like the o/s and made an exhaust bracket. Enjoy

  • Ok tool

The side bolts are a bit to thin and seem to twist easy. Nut treads stript out first time using. Using it to take out the bush is not a good thing. It is not to strong. But it is perfect for puting the bush inn.

  • Doesn’t fit Volvo!!!

Bought it to save on time, but unfortunately you can do right hand side bush with this tool. Left one has longer plate for exhaust bracket fitting and tool is useless as is far too shallow to push bush in. Most likely good for all Fords but can’t do Volvo’s properly. Shame as tool is very solid and stabile while working with it.

  • Well made works well.

Good quality tool. Only problem I had is the bolts were loose and needed to be tightened before use.

  • Sealey S-Max Trailing Arm Bush Removal

Tool was great but only used it to insert new bush. I don't think the threads would have managed to remove the old rusty bush. Removed the old bush with chisel and hammer.
