The adapter was bought for a project that fell through. It's had a few lenses mounted on for testing but hadn't left the house, hence the sale.

Great alternative to Metabones - but set it up properly!

A great (and a lot cheaper) alternative to the Metabones Speedbooster. The manufacturing quality of the product is high and it works well... One thing you need to be aware of however is, that this adapter is not set up correctly as delivered and infinity focus will be waaaaaaay off. You will need to adjust the optics and test it properly before using in anger but there are some YouTube videos that show you how to do this.

  • Most critical review

    Good value but slow focus.

I was a taking a bit of a gamble purchasing the Viltrox speedbooster having seen the price of the much more expensive and well known competitor. So long as you're prepared to be a bit patient for the focus to lock on and don't expect it to be as quick as a proptietory manufacturere's lens, then you shouldn't be too disappointed. If you're intending to shoot sports or wildlife, then you can I would save up for a proptietory lens. I simply wanted to be able to make use of my Canon 70-200 2.8L lens for the occasional shoot, in not too demanding situations, until I can afford to buy a Panasonic 35-100 f2.8. I found no problems with the sharpness of the images but I would be inclined to use manual focus and the focus peaking for critical sharpness. Great value for money.

  • Great alternative to Metabones

Delivery from UK to Scandinavia was a lot faster than I expected! Adapter works perfectly with the Sigma 18-35, really tight fit, but I wish the adapter would attach just a bit more securely to my GH5. Now it locks to the camera body with almost zero effort, and after the "click" there's just a bit of movement, but apparently according to Viltrox this falls inside the quality control standards. Works fine though, AF also works. Good image quality.

  • You don't get what you pay for

I spent 2 months to decide to get the more expensive brand and finally got the viltrox for my pocket 4k and iam very happy. I didn't need to twist the glass to get infinity focus it worked out of the box for me. I have aputure control out of box just no autofocus for black magic camera but in cinema filming we don't need that. I was scared of its flaw where at the lowest aputure the image becomes soft and unusable however for me at f1.2 sigma yes it's soft but I could still use it if Iam desperate but at f.1.8 it really is quite sharp and bright enough for me. Build quality is really good overall Iam very satisfied with this. I saved about £600 which I could use for another lens.

  • Great focal reducer

Works great with my Gh4 and rokinon lenses. I did have to turn the optical element to achieve infinite focus, but that was very easy to do and now it works. I tried to use autofocus on a 50mm f1.8 but was not able to get it to work properly, it just kept hunting back and forth, haven't tried it with any other lens with autofocus though so it might work better with other ones.

  • Just wow...

I can't wait to test this adapter it fully on other subjects than me in the mirror and some household items. It focuses so well on Panasonic GX8 with my Canon lenses. It might not be up for sports and fast action photography but great for video, portraits and I hope for landscapes too once I test it out. I tested it so far with Canon 24-105 F4L USM, Canon 85 F1.8 USM and 50mm 1.8 STM. It focuses in very low light too. I am using the latest firmware v3.2. Surpassed my expectation by quite a bit thus far. Panasonic GX8 is such a great camera to use and this adapter just works great on it. These samples are Jpegs straight out of camera using 24-105 and 50 STM.

  • Great but could be even better

When I use this adapter with lens with built in stabilization Canon 70 - 300 4-5.6 and I turn the stabilization of the lens on it freezes the liveview after few seconds and then I have to restart the camera and reconnect the lens. Also the lenght of the adapter itself could be longer because now I cannot hit infinity on sigma 24 2.8 ef or canon 50 1.8 or some other vintage 50 while on longer dumb adapter I could focus to infinity. Also the adjustment of the glass element could go further on the side of the camera body which would compensate for the small lenght of the adapter but the glass element can only go small distance while I think that metabones speedbooster can be adjusted better. Goood for the money you pay but it could be much better with small improvements.

  • Does the Job Well

My main camera kit is Canon but I also use a Lumix G90/95 camera for some video work . I needed to use but not that often, telephoto lenses on the G90 but didn't want to buy expensive M4/3 lenses when I already had high quality Canon EF ones that I could use when needed. This adapter gives me autofocus, control over the f stops and shutter speed as if it was a native Lumix lens as well as adding 1 stop of light so for my needs it is an excellent buy.

  • Nice buy

Had some trouble in fitting a Tokina 11-16, but it takes on Canon-built lenses beautifully. Great value.
