Better than Traeger
I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day to take camping. Since we were waiting on a part for our new Traeger, we set the DC up to use. All I can say is if we had tried the Green Mountain first, we would have never bought the Traeger. It’s made better. Holds temperature much better, and the wi-fi feature is so convenient. BBQ Easy
I purchased this so I would have the ability to BBQ while on the road working. Research both the GMG and the Treager portable pellet grills. Features and design are what influenced me to steer to the GMG. After using it to make a huge pork shoulder roast I knew I had made the right decision. Overall, satisfied.
Reasonably easy to use. Setting it up is easy, except for the legs. That is a 222-person job; not they are heavy, just awkward. I made a rolling base for mine to sit on the raise the cooking height to a more comfortable level. I made a place to store the pellets in the base. The start-up procedure is clear and worked as expected. The temperature read-out on mine seems to be inaccurate. I set it for 225 and the read-out ran from 225 up to about 350. The actual temperature seemed to be correct as the meat cooked in the proper time, not sure what the deal is with the read-out. The WIFI set up is nuts. I found the connection on my networks, but when I connect to it I drop from my home WIFI. The instructions are sketchy and not well written. The connection is not needed for the unit to work. The unit includes it so I thought I would try it. Not sure if will bother calling support on this. It does cook very well. I cooked 2 Boston Butts for my first use and they came out spectacular. Overall I am quite happy with the unit. It is a little tight to get my hands in the base to wipe it out after use but clean up is not bad. Great small smoker-temp issues.
Overall a great smoker. I have had difficulty maintaining a constant temp. I have moved the heat shield as advised in the manual. It does not seem to help. tried to smoke some ribs. Started at 180 degrees. Held that temp for about I hour, then it ramped up to 250 degrees. I opened the lid to reduce the temp but that didn't help. Had to lower the target temp to 150 degrees and then it would only fall to 190 degrees. Hard to get consistent results when you have to constantly monitor and adjust the set temps. Also hot spots. To do two babyback ribs, I would advise moving racks front to back and rotating every hour to get best results. Bought for camping in my rv on the weekends... now i use it to smoke ribs and grill steaks, butterfly chops, deer and turkey burgers durin the week! Best grill i could ask for hands down.. love the accuracy of the app also.. love the fact u can smoke meat and leave and kno exactly whats goin in ur smoker. Fine Manufactures Covering
Fits perfectly albeit the right shelf must be folded down. Otherwise seems to be thick enough to keep water from entering the hopper area (as well as 3/4 of the entire device). Only portion exposed to water is the bottom 3-4 inches of legs. The cover also has tie downs to further snug the cover around item. Should resist wind removing cover, as long as they don't come untied. Not to mention it is nice to have the GMG logo on cover, over the GMG system.Even though its the baby version of all GMG's, will must still protect the investment.

Awesome pellet smoker
Have a propane vertical smoker that I upgraded from. This is such a big upgrade, you really can cook anything you would in your stove in it. I have smoked whole chickens, tri-tip, and pork chops. I haven't pulled a bad thing off the grill. Know your times and temps, set it and forget it with this grill. I could be more impressed and pleased with my purchase.
