I got this to replace a Marantz7009
The extra power and channel separation is in league with the top brands... Not my words, do a search... My original choice was a Arkim A30 and when I did the search of top 5 receivers and amps Marantz SR8012 was in the lineup... at considerably less cost.
My home theater is covid ready now.
Along with the new Audyssey setup ($20 app) I have different sound parameters to set depending on weather I am watching by myself, another parameter for when I'm with a date and another if family is over.
This AVR plays music with exceptional detail. Love the wifi so that I can use streaming services with HEOS app. Audyssey worked great in tuning to my room. Plenty of power for my setup (using svs sub for everything below 80hz) and it is never tiring with Marantz legendary smooth sound.
Safety in a box to save those speakers from clipping damage.
Marantz has been around for a long time. They have always improved on equipment and this receiver is no exception. The receiver is so smart that it will not allow its self to clip. In other words it will protect those expensive speaker should you attempt to over drive the amp. It will limit how loud the volume can go however that limit is very very high. I measured 109 db max limit with clean playback on def tech bp 9060 ST. The 200wpc does its job safely. I have no complaints about this new receiver at all.
