Product Key Worked Perfectly - No ISO Download Necessary
I initially had a great deal of trouble upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro. However, once I figured it out, it was very simple. I went into Settings, then to Activation Settings, then clicked on Change product key which was under the Update Product Key header. Possible issues with Dell PC's
I have an older Dell desktop that originally came with Windows 8.1 (basic "home" edition). I took advantage of the free Windows 10 Home upgrade. I thought I could use this OEM key to upgrade to Pro, but it turned out to be an exercise in futility. From what I read, Dell places the activation key in the BIOS, so it doesn't matter which version of Windows 10 you try to install it will always default back to Home (factory resetting and re-flashing the BIOS didn't work either). I even tried creating ei.cfg and pid.txt, placing them on the install USB thumb drive, but that didn't work either. I would either need a retail Windows 10 Pro key, or pay Microsoft $99 to upgrade to Pro. These OEM keys work fine for your own custom computer builds, but may not work on upgrading a retail computer from Home to Pro, especially if the activation key is hard coded into the BIOS.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I had to go through the following steps settings update & security activation change product key go to the store blue got it then follow the provided instructions. Save yourself the $$$!
