Good machine lacking optical drive and accessible sockets.
I bought this machine as a replacement for an 8 year old HP Pavilion All in One that has been excellent. The reason for the upgrade is that the old machine had a (notified) failing of the hard drive. I have had HP machines in the past with no complaints and so I bought on reputation and experience. This new machine, with a 256Gb SSD main drive and a 1Tb hard disc is fast and quiet. I do have some complaints but with the operating system, mainly. A machine with an SSD C drive should be able to use the D drive (the SATA drive) as its main storage but the fact that Windows 10 includes 'One Drive' precludes easily placing the personal files (documents, pictures etc) on the SATA drive to keep space on the Main drive. I have had other problems that I can only assume were caused by Windows (External drives being 'lost' and 'File Explorer' being unable to open folders) that I have had to resolve myself. Having said that, the HP support software being included is great. Using these tools has helped me to understand the system and, more recently, to realise that a loss of all sounds was not a faulty machine but missing (removed by whom?) audio services. Well done HP. The main downer for me is that all the external connections are at the rear of the machine and inaccessible and that there is no optical (DVD) drive included, which I did understand when I bought the machine. Also there are 3 buttons on the RH side of the machine foe which I can find no explanation. They seem to be something to do with the tone of the screen and the HDMI socket. There was no manual with the machine but there is a rather long and complicated one on line. This seems to be an excellent machine for me as a personal computer.
