I bought this for my elderly mum, as she now struggles to use her iPad and iPhone. She loves using it to: set timers when cooking in the kitchen, reminders for doctors and hospital appointments, asking general 'google' questions, listening to the radio, getting weather and news updates, and also to speak to people upstairs (via a second nest mini), using the 'broadcast to...' function. Personally I think the Google nest Voice recognition is more reliable than the Amazon Echo Dot's. Music sound quality is good, but obviously with limited base response due to size, weight and design. Setup is very easy via your Google Home app on your smart phone, (although my elderly mum wouldn't have been able to cope with it). My mum liked being able to adjust the volume either by touching the sides of the nest, or via voice control.Read full review

Had Alexa and loved her ❤️ but she wouldn’t announce a Nest Hello doorbell ring as not compatible. So bought a Nest Mini as it would. Drops the setup every third day, says it’s not been set up at all and have to go through the motions of setting it up again in Google Home app. Also claims sometimes it isn’t connected to Wi-Fi when app says it is. Randomly turns itself off when playing radio. I only bought it to stop the dogs being triggered to bark when the doorbell rang, so I thought would be a good idea to disable the doorbell chime and have a gentle announcement instead. Wish I hadn’t bothered!

I got a bargain with the Nest, it was a returned item, So yes good value.. There are significant difference's between the Google Nest & Alexa, (I've had both) if you have music account's (Amazon Music) then Alexa.. I only listen to free music & Ask for information & facts. Nest uses the internet, Alexa uses Wikipedia so Nest gets a tick. With Alexa you can change the "wake up word" Nest only has "OK Google & Hey Google, shame!, but Value & internet info wins it, So Nest was my final choice. Although there are many more comparisons to consider. BH.

Great product and really useful. Speaker quality isn't too bad considering the small size so long as the volume isn't set too high. Really surprised at how well it understands voice commands and with the range of things it can do. Marked down 1 star because I think at the full recommended retail price of around £50 it should have a rechargeable battery to allow it to be portable. If you can get it on offer for around £30 or less it's good value for money. I personally wouldn't pay £50 for it.
