Reviews... a comprehensive (and DOOM!-filled) history of one of the strangest cartoons Nickelodeon ever greenlit.
SynopsisThe Art of Invader Zim is the official behind-the-scenes guide to Nickelodeon's cult-classic animated series and Enter the Florpus . Foreword by Rebecca Sugar Created by indie comics artist Jhonen Vasquez, Invader Zim tells the story of extraterrestrial outcast Zim, from the planet Irk. With the assistance of his malfunctioning robot GIR, Zim repeatedly tries (and fails) to execute his dastardly plan to conquer Earth, all while masquerading as an average elementary school student. Chris McDonnell's The Art of Invader Zim is the definitive history of both the fan-favorite series and Enter the Florpus . A fully authorized, all-access compendium of never-before-published production art, storyboards, behind-the-scenes photos, and ephemera, this book features exclusive interviews with Vasquez and other key crewmembers that reveal the origins, art, and imagination behind one of Nickelodeon's most beloved turn-of-the-millennium series. This book is fantastic! I’m so pleased with the depth they go into about the show! There are cute concept sketches, beautiful background illustrations, fun reads from the creators, and the list goes on! It is such a nice coffee table book you can just pick up and be entertained by at any time. The cover is gorgeous and works nicely as a piece of decor when you’re not busy flipping pages (depending on how you style your house anyway haha) this book was worth every penny, I am so in love with Invader Zim, and this book was like a dream come true, it’s so satisfying seeing a little behind the scenes!
