Reviews"The album sounds heavy and elusive, like a field recording, and it will surely be studied with the most powerful of cultural microscopes...", "Rhythmic slam delivery over a minimalist industrial beat weaves a gray tapestry of life on 'Your Soul and Mine,' and 'On Coming From a Broken Home' is a touching tribute...", 4 stars out of 5 -- "As a radical overhaul of a career, it's a brave, brilliant and highly personal statement.", 3 stars out of 5 -- "It's a steely blues record at heart -- the sound of a damaged man staring in the mirror without self-pity but not without hope.", Ranked #29 in Mojo's "The 50 Best Albums of 2010in- "I'm New Here Is Hard, Real and Vital.", "A Testament to Spiritual Resilience....He Sounds both Worldly-Wise and Reborn.", Ranked #16 in Uncut's "The 50 Best Albums of 2010" -- "It was the weathered monologues that resonated most."

  • A terrific finale from the late, great G S-H.

The review title says everything you need to know about Gil's swansong.

  • Gil Scott Heron confronts his demons

An unusual and stripped down approach has been taken to the production of this highly personal music, which rather puts the emphasis on Gil Scott Heron's voice, characterised, as it is, by age and his iconoclastic, convention defying lifestyle. Standout cut by several miles would be his explosive cover of Robert Johnson's Me and the Devil, draining in its intensity.

  • good but short

I liked this album but was a bit disappointed with length although I have my cd player on repeat so it goes round in a loop this is cool if your pottering about, some albums are ok for this and this one of them so in which case the length becomes less of an issue I can't remember how much the cd cost so can't say if it's value for money but they want a answer so I said no it would have been better if they hadn't pressed me for everyone's idea of value is different

  • First experience of the late GSH

Fabulous album - it is like you are being read a personal letter out loud.....such a beautiful voice both speaking and singing. Such amazing words. Gorgeous and so very modern music. One complaint....way too short
