These clubs changed my game, which is a good thing and a bad thing. It's what I wanted but getting what I wished for has been an adjustment. All the sudden I'm adjusting down a full club and a half. So it's an adjustment which I'm still getting used to. And since my ball strikes cleaner I'm sometimes putting even more power into it, because I can, so I'm often hitting 20-25 yards further with a not to big decrease in accuracy. And I'm tempted to hit that hard all the time. I'm still trying to figure out how to back off and be consistent, because my ego wants to kill it.

I purchased the clubs as a replacement for my 40 year old ones. The reviews I read suggested they were ideal for a weekend golfer. The clubs look and feel great. They swing well and the weight is well distributed throughout. Certainly a substantial improvement over my old set. As I am getting more practice I am starting to hit the ball well much more consistently than before. The sweet spot is larger than I am used to and therefore distance and accuracy is good for even slightly poor shots. You can still hit bad ones but perhaps less often. The only down side I have discovered is they are a bit harder to clean given the design of the back of the club compared to the blade style clubs I had. Also the very high shine on the stainless on the clubface and sole scuff more easily.
These clubs are really, really hot. The only problem I ran into was flying the green before I had my distances dialed in. The turf interaction is fantastic, easy to hit even chunked shots with some distance. The heavy club gives you some confidence to slow down your swing speed and still get the ball up and out for days where your swing isn't perfect. Fantastic and affordable clubs for mid/high handicappers. Oh and I was able to put a slight draw on the ball without too much effort if you're on a high horse and think you're too good for this club. Don't be silly.
Felt it was time for a new set of irons, have been playing Callaway Fusion irons for past several years. Saw the Callaway Diablo Edge irons at a great price on EBay and took a chance. Received the irons and really like the looks and feel, with exception of the grips, they are a little thin, but that is an easy fix over the winter. Have played with them and all the reveiws I read were right on, they are very forgiving, get good distance and have a nice feel to them. I have been very pleased, can't beat them for the costs. I plan on putting a new set of midsize grips on and look forward to next season.
OK, in fairness, I do play 2-3 times per week. I take a weekly lesson with a PGA pro, and I go to the range to practice 1-2 per week. That being said, I'm brand new to the game at 43yo, and I started playing July of 2010 (Midwest has a short season, so "a year and a half" really means 7 months of actual play time!)...SO, these Callaway Diablos are my second iron set. They do EXACTLY what they say they are gonna do: (super) improve your game. They are very easy to hit from all lies, and they get real 'heavy' at the bottom of the swing to give you great impact and distance. IF you actually hit down and compress the ball with these clubs, you'll get extreme distance, and you can also start to shape shots! I know! fade/slice on command???? draw it on command? Yes, these clubs will allow you to do that, but for sure you'll hit the ball high and straight. Easy to get up in the air. Yes, you can chunk it or top it too, but that's you my friend, not the clubs. The Uniflex shaft seems to be the right flex for me. I'm still learning, so I'm not sure, but my old (first) Taylor Made set were "Regular" shaft and they seemed to lag behind my swing a lot robbing me of distance...Callaway's "Uniflex" is somewhere between Regular and Stiff, they claim, and it seems to be okay for me. If I continue on this improvement path, the next improvement to these clubs would be Stiff. They have been great for me. By the way, I went from a 39+ HC index to a 25 HC index in a year. I work hard, but these clubs have definitely help, no doubt. Worth the investment.Read full review
