US action adventure starring Vernon Wells, Christopher Atkins and Branscombe Richmond. The film follows Jonathan Davenport (Robbie Allen), the heir to a media empire, as he ventures to the Amazon rainforest in Peru in an attempt to get over the death of his father, which continues to haunt him. Accompanying his ex-girlfriend Elisabeth Carlisle (Riley Dandy) on her quest to find a solitary artist, Jonathan quickly discovers that there are dark supernatural forces lurking in the jungle, determined to keep the ancient secrets of the rainforest hidden, and as the pair get closer to their target they fear they are walking into a trap...
A new film. Expected a theme along the lines of the Indiana Jones films. I was mistaken. Too much dream-like fantasy. Reminiscent of someone going through someone who is hallucinating on illicit drugs. No real theme. Just poor dialogue, pathetic acting and a poor plot throughout the film. Don't be fooled or misled by the cover of the DVD. The cover of the DVD makes the film look appealing and exciting. The film itself bares little resemblance to the cover. Someone goes on a mission to find the 'lost city of gold' and encounters witch doctors and bandits along the way. The dream-like state he appears to go through a lot of the time spoils and ruins the plot. I paid just over £5.00 on Amazon for this. Don't pay more than one pound.
All the characters had side issues and full of self pity. The film played like a bad soap opera. The Male lead kept listening to his dead Fathers last telephone message and wimping. The film was set in the jungles of South America yet the roads had curbs and white road markings poorly hidden by dirt. The grass verges where cut and tidy even around drug dens and gang hide outs. I stuck with the film about an hour then when I had enough of this tosh I placed the DVD in the bin. I would not inflicted the film on anyone by giving it to a charity shop.
An appalling film - more like a Rambo version of something else. I expected an Indiana Jones style movie but this is NOTHING like that style. Hated it. Poor acting poor continuity and in truth, predictable. Managed most of this, but didn’t reach the end.
