About this product

Product Information

Based on the amazing true story that inspired Elizabeth Elliot's best-seller, Through Gates of Splendor, comes an incredible documentary film. When five missionary families travel to Ecuador, they find creative ways to connect with an isolated tribe, the Woadani. Although at first they find acceptance, eventually, some meet with hostility and ultimately, death. In a testament to unsurpassed forgiveness, however, members of the slain missionaries' families return to the Amazonian basin and live among the tribe. Featuring first-hand accounts of this fascinating story, including recent tribe interviews, this powerful, award-winning documentary is one you will never forget.

  • Historic story very well told. Don't pass it up.

Incredible true story reflects not only on the different worlds the individuals came from and of course the power of the Christian world view but also the history of the Western democracies. Told solely through the first hand accounts of the individuals involved (those who are still alive) and firstly and mostly the Amazonian natives, now transformed by the power of the gospel. A telling part earlier on is where they clarify that almost everyone in the Amazonian community starts their story with an account of how one or both of their parents died in a homicide. It may feel a bit slow at first but it gets really engrossing and is really demonstrative and powerful in the end. There is no "artificial" or "contrived" content whatsoever so it's suitable for any audience and for mixed audiences. Historic story very well told. Don't pass it up.
