I bought this CD knowing the two standout singles. These are familiar and well liked by me. Unfortunately, the rest of the tracks ( 18 ) are slightly unimaginative, significantly less memorable in terms of melody and lyric quality. It's quite well produced, but the songs lack complexity and are not very engaging. Lyrics are repeated and don't develop. I could ( should ) have bought two downloads rather than the full album.
The first four tracks or so are a bit... so - so, to my ears, but then it seems the album suddenly changes gear and becomes a different proposition altogether!
I have the CD version and the quality ramps up, track by track, peaking with a lush extended version of ‘Bring It Back’.
These days albums are front loaded. the killer tracks are Crammed up the track list for instant gratification and sales. This more of a journey (apologies for use of that cliche word)
