The Hornby R8312 DCC eLink Railmaster is a digital system software for controlling a model railway from a computer. When hooked on to the correct R8247 decoders, the eLink control pack can control up to 9999 locomotives, in addition to more than 2000 electrical accessories. The control pack comprises the RailMaster software, a single amp transformer and the eLink interface unit. Next step in Railway modelling
Initial thoughts are good, only just managed to get it going due to problems with installaion of Railmaster. You need to read all the instructions to ensure you do not have issues when installing. The one piece of advice is switch off all the anti virus software first, should then be a doddle. Still to exlore the use of the eLink.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This products instructions are not clear it does not mention PC`c Ports or framework, once downloaded it does record programs of train runs but does not carry out the recorded function as programed every time thus either causing trains to go further than planed or shorter with consequences . on manual runs the stop icon does not work every time, its a great concept but as when it first came out has short falls you cannot take your eyes from the loco`s I have raised these and other points with Hornby reps at exhibitions with negative interest. The system does not allow for extra load on trains this is not pointed out , inclines and tempermental points effects the program, all in all its better to have full and total control over expensive Loco`s, not impressed in fact look at Hornby`s own layout at the shop the trains there prove the point. Makes DCC easy once you get it to work.
This is a really good product from Hornby and Railmaster, making DCC much less of an esoteric mystery for old DC hands like me. I really like the way I can control the layout from a Windows PC. It's simple to use, yet quite flexible. I eventually managed to download a trial version of the software. Edge or Google wouldn't do it, (their security won't download an 'exe' file from an http address) so I installed Opera, used it's VPN mode and managed it, phew). Great idea, configuring is tough.

Hornby eLink but Windows no link.
Hornby have messed up here, it is very difficult to set this up, I tried windows 10 and 7 and the pc just couldn't find the elink unit, which, by the way, feels cheap and not worthy of the brand, I have given up on it as it just didn't work for me.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
