The Mitutoyo 293-340-30 Digimatic is a digital micrometer that has a range of 0 to 1 inch. It has an accuracy of .00005 inch or .001 millimeter. The ratchet-stop thimble ensures high accuracy because it stops turning and makes a sound when it touches a work piece. This microprocessor has the ability to hold measurements at any position. It has a temporary zero position and a return to true zero function. The spindle and anvil are used for flat, water-resistant faces. The components are also resistant to dust and debris.

Smooth, accurate and easy to read high quality micrometer
Very high quality and accurate micrometer. Smooth operation and very nice fit and finish. Mitutoyo is known for long battery life and this micrometer has automatic turn on and shut off. Turn the thimble and it turns on. Let it sit for 20 minutes and it turns off. There is no on/off button. The spindle lock is smooth and positive. I checked with jo blocks and it is right on the money throughout its range. If the battery dies you can read the thimble scale like a mechanical mic, although it only reads to .001. Just a well engineered and made micrometer. You can't go wrong with Mitutoyo.

Accurate micrometer
This has become my go to micrometer. The digital scale is very accurate. Attached is a picture of the the micrometer measuring a 25mm standard. Note that the micrometer has a one micron resolution.
