Works great after adjusted to engine.
The carburetor on my car was too large (600 CFM) and ran too rich, I purchased an Edelbrock 500 CFM and it solved the problem. After minor adjustments to match it to my engine it runs better than ever before. Rebuilt with bad floats
It worked good for 2 weeks and then started flooding engine checked fuel pressure it was good at 4.5 psi took carb apart and seen floats still crusty like never cleaned after rebuilt and one of floats has gas inside one of them no cruising till I order new floats. Check the floats!!
When I bought this I put it on one of my builds. It ran really well for a day or two. It stopped running well and was pouring fuel all over the place. I took it apart and one of my floats was dented in with a pin hole. It was full of gas and flooded the motor. I pulled it apart and soldered the hole in the float and she works like new. I can FINALLY enjoy my old car
Thank heaven for Edelbrock and simplicity. I went through videos on tuning Holleys and hour after hour and never achieved a successful tune on my old 1966 Pontiac with a unique OHC6 cylinder engine. The Holleys had a 390 CFM, this Edelbrock is 500 CFM. I was concerned it may be too big for the displacement. I found an absolutely drop dead price for a Model 1403 and I was able to sell the two Holleys and purchase the Edelbrock. I put the Edelborck on AFTER watchign the enclosed dvd. I started the car and it ran, it idled, with just a few tweaks to the idle screws, and the car had come to life. I have recently taken the car on two test drives and now with the timing set, and the points set and everything according to spec, the car runs like new. I cannot figure out why neither of the Holleys would work on the car. The Edelbrock has brought back the enjoyment of the old Pontiac. All the essential parts are present.
A decent kit. all the essential gaskets and parts were there. The instructions sidetracked me a little with references to 9000 series carbs where the carb I have is a 1406. I had to check out the 1406 manual online to confirm some measurements. It's my first rebuild so maybe the kit is applicable to many other edelbrock units with features that aren't part of the 1406. Anyway, the carb is nearly built, only the primary jets, springs, needles and pistons to install now.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
