Killed along with his fiancé Jessie (Laura Vandervoort) in a nightclub suicide bombing, American journalist Matt Ellman (Tahmoh Penikett) washes ashore in new world populated by everyone who has ever died on Earth in this fantasy miniseries adapted from the books by author Philip Jose Farmer. Now, in this strange new land, Matt's only goal is to find the woman he loves, and spend eternity with her. Along the way, the befuddled wanderer climbs aboard a riverboat piloted by celebrated American author Mark Twain (Mark Deklin), and joins forces with a fierce female warrior named Tomoe (Jeananne Goossen), who hails from the 13th Century. The further the group travels up the massive river they emerged from, the more apparent it becomes that an extraterrestrial entity is tracking their every move.

It will leave you scratching your head wondering what happened.
Very strange show where there is NO conclusion. It leaves you wondering what was going on with no finale or explanation to the whole scenario. It could have been a great show but I guess the writers didn't get it right.

LOVE this movie!
I used to have this movie until somebody borrowed it & kept it. I finally found it again & ordered it. I am so happy to have it again. It arrived quickly & in excellent condition, so I’m quite happy. I only wish they’d make another movie, I was left with unanswered questions. I highly recommend this movie to people who like both a good plot & action that are not dependent on sex! The characters are interesting & engaging. Great movie!

Hard to understand at first.
After getting into the plot of the movie, it became evident what was taking place. I didn't read the series of books it was based on, but it was very interesting to watch and raised some questions about life and death. Is there a waiting place called "Purgatory", before getting into heaven?

Action packed and full of awesome characters, Riverworld keeps you entertained from beginning to end. Lots of sword fights, fisticuffs, a Zeppelin, and a fabulous river boat. A film to watch over and over again.
