  • Turns an amateur into a professional

The shoulder mounted rig should not be confused with a stabiliser it just turns your body into a moveable tripod and allows you to add extras like a video light, monitor, shotgun microphone and additional batteries with additional attachments. This makes it ideal for the amateur video maker or a professional on a budget that has a camera that is more than a holiday snapshooter or a mobile phone. Ideally the rig, which is quite heavy in its self, should balance on your shoulder like a pirates parrot allowing you to use hands to point and control the rig. A lot of the weight is up front and a small weight is supplied but not enough to counter balance the rig alone and gets more unbalanced as more Items are attached. This means that your hands and arms are taking the frontal load of what is more like a bridge between the hands and shoulder which provides for a steadier shot but can make it hard on the arms supporting the weight for any length of time. DSLR gimbals suffer the same problem when in use for providing steady shots your arms start to ache from the weight of the camera and gimbal, that’s the price of making good video I guess. So its a bit weighty which in ways is both good and bad to get steady shots on the go that or some time static say in documentary work. Like a tripod and gimbal have become key parts in serious video making, a shoulder rig is another as it can be very flexible in use and Neewer produce a well constructed and priced shoulder rig with a useful carrying handle up top and a side focus wheel attachment that helps produce those better results we all seek. It help turns an amateur into a professional and also turns heads when it appears that this person is serious about video.

  • Exception to perfection

The only detail besides being really "pro look" and very funcional is that, if you have a grip in a Nikon d850 the Matte Box won´t go up enough. You have to work without the grip. I made an extension and now is just great.
