A beast of a machine...but with a glitch
A few neighbours and I decided to share Internet to save costs. We all live on the same floor in a building with thick walls and a hallway between one of us. I had access points and extenders sending out signals that were "okay"...but not great. I first set up an Orbi router in my living room and a satellite in my bedroom next to one neighbour's place. The signal strength in her place was so great that she gave me back my extender. I then set up a satellite across the hall in another neighbour's place, diagonally from my living room router. PRESTO! Everyone get's full bars next to their satellite/router, and 5 or more Mbps than what I actually pay for from my Internet Service Provider. HOWEVER...what I have noticed is that every so often, my computer will connect to my neighbour's satellite, and hers will connect to my router. This causes a dramatic drop in bandwidth. To rectify this, we found that when we start up our devices, we have to look to see how many bars of reception we get and if it looks low, disconnect Wi-Fi and restart it which fixes the issue. By doing this, each device suddenly picks the router/satellite closest to it and stays connected to it. It's a small price to pay for fantastic speed and monthly savings.
