I bought this for my 16 channel cctv dvr as the original cheaper one kept crashing. this one has more capacity and stuff I don't under stand. but next day after installing, video of kids attempting to steal a car. got them caught and proved valuable in court. don't cheap out get this it works. my property and I depend on it. easy to install 2 plugs 4 screws and click format button.
I would recommend the red/black editions since they are more geared toward performance. My small PSU was the reasoning behind the green but its not worth the performance hit. I will say it is substantially quieter than the black.
Great performance, can be a bit slow to power up at initial boot, but very efficient and the delay is hardly noticeable. It is a great value if you can find it around the $60.00 range anything over $75.00 and you can get a 2TB Toshiba or equivalent. But for long term healthy performance this is a wonderful drive that should last years. Handles multiple partitions without a problem.
Fun with it, huh? Ok. This is the perfect backup jailhouse for all my files (software, movies, music) and Western Digital has always been a trusted name to me. I think their drives are top shelf and have been using them since 1990. Excellent brand! And eBay is the perfect vehicle for bringing products like this to the masses! eBay is my #1 'go to' for everything! And Western Digital is my favorite choice for hardware.
Drive rocks, all my files flew rite over and are backed up :) I ran a few drive bench mark apps and it is faster than my seagates... i would recomend this! Thank You :)
I bought this model because i need big size. Now I will not worry about where I store my data.It is true.
I haven't bought it and I DON'T buy it. WD15EADS is a 1.5 TB drive. There ARE 32 TB drives out there, if you're willing to shell out $5,000 or more.
I have a WD15EADS running in a NAS enclosure, working fine. The EADS is the older format drive, the EARS drives are their newer format. The NAS enclosure I have is not able to use the EARS format drives.
amazing HDD if yah got it for under $70.....yes the market for the hdd is going nuts just like how the ddr3 market is also going up....WD green are excellent HDD.
These drives suck. Bought 4, the 1st on crashed in the first month. WD tech support screwed up everything. Waiting for a refund for 6 months now. Their support people are so F***ing stupid that I don't know how they even remember to breathe every day. NEVER buying WD again!
