Blandings and her co-habitants were a rustic world away from the contrived sometimes tenuous plot threads of Bertie Wooster's scrapes but somehow Bertie has aged far better than Lord E. and co. Perhaps its because we are able to attach the amiable face of Hugh Laurie to Bertie making him seem more contemporary whereas Blandings will be forever of the 1930s in style and feel. Still a fantastic read though.
