  • The real Bomber war

It gives a real insight into RAF bombing operations during WW2. Guy Gibson is honest and direct in his writings. It is written as though he is talking to you. This man was not full of bravado, had a normal functioning ego and was a pilot who embraced technique and logic, care and attention, to what he was doing. Because of this he did not make unnecessary mistakes. I think he may well have been, ahead of his time. You will read how, despite for his enormous love for her, he opted to live apart from his new wife because he believed fighting a war and being married, did not go together. He believed total focus and concentration was required to get through. Its a real very great shame that he insisted on continuing on ops right to the end. I had not realised that he was put on to Beaufighters early in the war and whilst on his tour with Fighter Command, he talks of the differences between it and the men of Bomber Command. Buy a copy and read it.
