I read it when it came out, and listened to it on tape. I have read most of AdeB's output (apart from the couple that did not get to me - they still sit on the shelves awaiting the day) and rate him very highly for the lucidity of his writing and the humanity of his outlook. I reread parts of TCofP when very depressed last year. Couldn't read a self help book or be arsed with CBT but this was great. I bought this copy to give to a friend who has a child with a serious illness. They loved it, and found it consoling. A great book in my view. 5/5 stars.
Philosophical insights galore. A helpful guide to living. Alain de Botton makes philosophy accessible, and entertaining.
