Fluorescein angiography is being used extensively as a valuable aid to the study and treatment of various chorioretinal diseases. For fluorescein angiography the patient is given an intravenous injection of fluorescein dye and special photographs are taken of the back of the eye. The resulting images of the blood vessels enable diagnosis to be made for diseases as diverse as brain tumours and diabetes.
