About this product

Product Information

From his youth, through his brief but beautiful impact on the charts, to the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis that effectively ended his career, the names that define Clifford T. Ward's unique talent are as varied as they are impressive: Jimmy Page, Paul McCartney, Karl Hyde, Jeff Lynne and Tim Rice. All speak between these pages of a truly extraordinary man that the world, sadly, remembers only for an appearance on Top of the Pops in 1973. In this affectionate, exhaustively researched book, recently revised and expanded, readers will come to reconsider this amazing talent. Photos.

  • Clifford the tormented perfectionist.

A well written and informative book by Dave Cartwright ,who I would imagine had trouble trying to extract information on CTW. What a truly unique talented wordsmith and musician Clifford was considering he was self taught and did not read music. A testament to his talent is that so many established singers have recorded his songs and rate him so highly. Dave you have done a great deal to bring Clifford T Ward life story to us the readers ,only suggestions I have is his wife and children could have been elaborated on and I would hope they are proud of CTW. Also as a selfish point I would like to have seen the Tracks listed on the CDs for reference at the end of the book. But a very well written and informative narration.

  • Bittersweet

Written in a compelling and unusual style, the story of Clifford T Ward is one of hard work, undoubted great musical ability, a brief period of fame, exploitation by managers and record companies before his falling ill with MS and eventual early death, never having really fulfilled his remarkable potential. Excellent read, but painful in parts.
