About this product

Product Information

The increasing appearance of vertical milling machines in model engineers' and other small workshops has brought the versatility of this type of machine to the notice of a large and growing group of potential users, but until the first edition of this book was published in 1977 there was little available guidance for the average amateur or small user. This third revised edition includes descriptions of many of the very wide range of operations possible with photographed examples, plus information on machines, accessories, cutters, chucks, requirements and methods of work-holding.

  • Another very good Workshop Practice Series.

As a time served apprentice in fitting & Turning even at 75yrs I found this book very interesting and definitely a book a book to keep close bye, especially to refresh old brain cells. It covers a lot of interesting methods ie :- slit-sawing, end milling, jig-boring, dividing heads, feeds & speeds, and much more, and is well complimented by the Illustrations like Dore/Westbury & Myford etc, so something for everyone,s interests.

  • Not as informative as the title would imply

Plenty of detail of the author's own manufactured machine, but not much on milling techniques and what cutters, speeds or lubricants to use for different materials. Looking at a few YouTube videos imparted more information.

  • Home milling book too advanced

Too much detail & space afforded to dividing head use rather than straightforward machining.
