Based on the popular Victorian parlour game, The Minister's Cat is a collection of poems about cats. Humour is interwoven with an understanding of both feline and human nature, so that the distinction between the two is teasingly blurred. As Douglas himself writes: All the cats in the book have biblical names, although as there were no biblical names with the initial letters W, X and Y, certain disgraceful devices had to be resorted to.
