  • A collection of historical anecdotes.

This is a compilation of historical events criminal and domestic, that occurred in Oxford. They range from the banal to the sensational and are taken from various records. It's the sort of book you might dip into rather than read from beginning to end. The author draws no conclusion and there is no attempt to develop a thesis simply relying on the accounts. It could be a good starting point for academic study as there are lots of incidents of injustice and loopholes in the law as it was interpreted. On the whole, a bit dull and uninspired.
