About this product

Product Information

A true account of the Villainous Bartholomew Rakehell, Ne'er do Well is a collection of three epic eighteenth century tales told in rhyming couplets. The story starts with Jenny Go-Sprightly being sold into prostitution in London, then follows her adventures as she escapes to Bristol and meets a dashing highwayman. The third episode tells of the trials and tribulations of Timothy Tosspot who is cruelly tricked and pressganged in the drinking dens of Bristol. This book is bawdy, fast-paced and witty with a wonderful array of characters including Madams, Highwaymen, Pirates, Bare-knuckle Prizefighters and Quack doctors. The book also contains a full glossary (with two more poems) and 6 pencil and ink sketches by artist Gary Woods.
