This was meant to be the last book in the series - and in many ways it would probably have been better to leave it here. But it is still great to read it and compare it with the first book - Ross Poldark - which I have known and loved for over 50 years. The battle of Waterloo must always be a difficult subject for any novelist - given how many great writers have written about it before, but Winston Graham has managed a different angle. Great writing, and a good and fitting end to the Poldark saga.
