About this product

Product Information

Is having 'somebody to love' the most important thing in your life? Do you constantly believe that with 'the right man' you would no longer feel depressed or lonely? Are you bored with 'nice guys' who are open, honest and dependable? If being in love means being in pain, this book was written for you. Therapist Robin Norwood describes loving too much as a pattern of thoughts and behaviour, which certain women develop as a response to problems from childhood. Many women find themselves repeatedly drawn into unhappy and destructive relationships with men. They then struggle to make these doomed relationships work. This bestselling book takes a hard look at how powerfully addictive these unhealthy relationships are - but also gives a very specific programme for recovery from the disease of loving too much.

  • My 'SURVIVAL BIBLE'

30 years ago, I was the victim of domestic violence. My husband regularly drank and I was often beaten. I heard something about this book and chose to buy a copy. From page one I thought.."GOD THIS IS ME," I WAS ADDICTED!!!! I gained a lot of insight and then new I wasnt the only one. FAST FORWARD.... I new I had to get out of the marriage for my children and my own sake. I divorced and told myself I would never let this happen again, whenever 'HE SANG HIS APPOLOGIES' I referred to this book, ' MY SURVIVAL BIBLE' and thought "NOT GOING BACK, ONLY FORWARD AND OUT." I divorced, I spoke on a local radio station about domestic violence and even did voluntary work for a 'women in need' charity who provide safe houses, and our local Samaritans. I'm now happily remarried to a wonderful man, my children all grown and settled, holding steady jobs and thankfully weren't raised in a destructive family home. Being a 'divorced' single mam wasn't always easy, money could be tight, but I could lock my door and sleep without waiting for a key to rattle in the lock, expecting another beating!

  • A life-changing book for women

I first got this book in 1993, it was from my personal tutor on the diploma in social work course I was doing. At the time I was in an emotionally abusive relationship - although I didn't realise it until my tutor pointed it out to me. I wasn't strong enough to read it fully until a year or so later, and when I did, it astonished me how much I could relate to it and how much sense it made to me. I'm glad to say that I have NEVER been in a relationship that was in any way abusive since. It opened my eyes and I was able to identify then break the cycle of thinking that if I loved him enough/was a good enough girlfriend then he would change. Thank f**k for that! Since then I have bought this book many times to give to friends and acquaintances who I believed were classic 'women who loved too much'. Here I am, 26 years later, buying it for yet another old friend. This is indeed, 'a life-changing book for women'. So many women can/will benefit from reading it. I honestly can't rate it highly enough.

  • Do you need to read this book

This book is a hard read because of the way it is written and the stuff written in the book. You probably relate to something in the book. It is helping me loads because I can relate to a lot of what is in the book. I would say if you think you need to read it then do.
