A history of invention
A mass of research and detail on human inventiveness and ingenuity down the ages, written in a non academic way for the general reader. Boorstin wears his erudition and knowledge lightly without patronising or talking down to his readers. It's an historical adventure story of the mind, leading us from ancient times to the present, and showing us how we got from then to now.
