I was given a new copy of this book from my Mum back in 1982 and its been in Constant use in my kitchen ever since, the cookery year tells you how to prepare a joint, how to cook it, calve it and even how to make a stock from the left overs. It has an extensive section on fruit, veg, fish, cheese and meet. Recipes for each season and for puddings, preserving, cakes, biscuits and pasty dishes.. Every recipe I've ever needed I've found in this book and every dish i have made from this book has turned out great. I have about 20 cook books, but this is the one that's been used over and over again, to the point that its back has broken and some of the pages have stuck together with ingredients. I highly recommend this book.
45 years ago i had this cookbook when i was first married. i loved it and never needed another one. then i moved abroad and unable to take too much i sadly gave it away. i longed for my book remembering recipes like beef carbonnade and fish soup. i have always searched charity shops for this book since my return to england without success. imagine my delight at finding it again. old favourite recipes i had forgotten will now be back in my menus.
