Expensive, but provided NVMe boot and top speed right away on Supermicro board
Got this card for a 7048GR-TR GPU workstation, so I could boot from a Samsung 960 Pro NVMe instead of a SATA III SSD, on a dual xeon v4 motherboard (X10-DRG-Q, SYS-7048GR-TR workstation). The card is technically great - worked immediately after setting BIOS for EFI boot and enabling EFI for the PCI-e slot, and the card does not slow down this drive. Its speed exceeds what I had from an m2 slot with same drive on another newer board, and is 4 times as fast as the SATA SSD I replaced it with. The cheaper PCIe to m2 cards that I tried did not work, so I had to go to this one at about 3-4 x the cost of generic PCIe-to-m2 adapters. This card does not provide NVMe RAID, just two NVMe drive slots. SuperMicro tech quality is excellent, and at $139 the price is below other add on cards for NVMe that work on Supermicro boards. Subsequent LGA 3647 xeons and motherboards (xeon silver/gold/platinum) will support NVMe so this will be a non-problem after xeon v4,Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
