There has been nothing like Atlantic slavery. Its scope and the ways in which it has shaped the modern world are so far-reaching as to make it ungraspable. But what held them together, in its destructive gravitational.
This book tells the story of the 18th century slave trade from the personal records of three people involved from different aspects. It is a story that should be more widely known and goes a long way to understanding the complex and horrific business of using and abusing people for profit.
It is a very well researched and written book but is on occasion a quite difficult read.
I would recommend the book to anyone wishing to know more of our history and that of black people in present day Britain.
