AUTHOR: Alexandre Dumas, born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie was a French writer, best known for his numerous historical novels of high adventure which have made him one of the most widely read French authors in the world. Many of his novels, including 'The Count of Monte Cristo', 'The Three Musketeers', 'Twenty Years After', and 'The Vicomte de Bragelonne' were serialised. He also wrote plays and magazine articles and was a prolific correspondent.

    Really interesting storyline

    I hadn’t heard of this book before but I got it on a whim and I ended up really enjoying it. It’s quite long but I didn’t mind as I actually didn’t want it to end. Really good value as well.

    Revenge is a dish best served cold.

    I'm keeping this for a summer read. I have not read the story for nearly 20 years and love the quaint French style prose. I trust that this is a accurate translation. If it isn't I shall be very disapointed.
