Pasiphae, the wife of King Minos of Crete, develops an extreme and uncontrollable passion for a white bull - which she persuades the inventor Daedalus to help her consummate. Daedalus builds a wicker cow for Pasiphae, so she can have sex with the bull. It is a dangerous and desperate attempt but it succeeds. Pasiphae becomes pregnant and gives birth to the Minotaur. When Minos discovers this, his rage turns on Daedalus, whose immediate death he demands. Daedalus and his son Icarus flee. Using wings that the inventor has made they fly across the sea but Icarus dies during the flight. Minos, however, continues his pursuit but it is he himself who ends up being killed.
