About this product

Product Information

From the brilliantly funny Hugh Laurie, British comedian and star of TV medical drama House, comes a debut novel that will have his existing fans - and anyone who loves the dark humour of Stephen Fry and Ben Elton's books - laughing out loud. When Thomas Lang, a hired gunman with a soft heart, is contracted to assassinate an American industrialist, he opts instead to warn the intended victim - a good deed that doesn't go unpunished. Within hours Lang is butting heads with a Buddha statue, matching wits with evil billionaires, and putting his life (among other things) in the hands of a bevy of femmes fatales, whilst trying to save a beautiful lady ... and prevent an international bloodbath to boot. A wonderfully funny novel from one of Britain's most famous comedians and star of award-winning US TV medical drama series, House.

  • Genuine surprise

Given that Hugh Laurie is mostly known for acting (latterly as House, formerly with Stephen Fry) it comes as a surprise that he finds the time to write (although this was written before he became House). The story centres around Thomas Lang who is an ex-army no-good civilian who gets embroiled in a military showdown where he inadvertently ends up selling guns. The story takes in some interesting locations, combines serious drama with some genuinely funny humour and leaves you wanting more. There was talk of a second book from Hugh but, at the time of going to print, we're still waiting... LOVE THIS BOOK.
