Product Information
Before the church was built and the new parish of Colney Heath established in 1845 - as a deterrent to lawlessness - the wild, heathland area, named after the scrub on either side of a flooded river bank, had remained a remote part of Hertfordshire. So cut off was it that the place was regarded as the wilderness of the well-to-do St Peters parish centred on St Albans, four miles to the north-west. Like chrysalis into butterfly, the gradual emergence of a neglected and solitary place into a thriving and sociable community has proved to e a most striking transformation.Product Identifiers
